Having a rich history of providing care for keiki and adults, Easterseals Hawaii is building on that strength of support for the future. With our 75th anniversary underway, we continue to increase equity and opportunity for people with developmental disabilities to be seen for their accomplishments in their communities, achieve their diverse range of goals and dreams, and to choose their own path. Easterseals Hawaii is providing the kind of services that last a lifetime. For the participants in its Home and Community-Based Services, like Adult Day Health programs and Employment Services, learning independent living skills like using a computer, navigating public transportation, and discovering various communication techniques are a major component of the programming. Coupled with creative projects and recreational activities like art, gardening and visiting local establishments, participants have a well-rounded schedule to engage their interests and be an active member of their community. Having such a reliable routine every day ensures participants and their families have support and stability, especially as parents age and wonder how their children will be cared for in the future. Without a doubt, being part of the local community provides tremendous peace of mind and genuine enjoyment for everyone, regardless of ability.
